Flexible filament easy to print and with glow in the dark.

Spectrum is a European company based in Poland that focuses on the production of consumables for FDM / FFF 3D printers under the Spectrum Filaments brand.

Within its wide range of filaments, there is the Spectrum S-Flex 90A Glow in the dark. This material is framed between flexible filaments and has a Shore hardness of 90A. This hardness allows flexible items to be printed in 3D much more easily than with other flexible materials. Its ease of printing is also due to its excellent adhesion to the printing base, as well as its high adhesion between layers.

Among its characteristics, its elongation at break of 500% is worth mentioning. In addition, this filament is resistant to a large number of common oils and chemicals, as well as to weak and diluted acids and bases.

Spectrum S-Flex 90A Glow in the dark also features good UV resistance and high resistance to ageing.

However, the most striking feature of this filament is undoubtedly its phosphorescence, as this property is not common in flexible filaments.

Phosphorescence is a phenomenon by which certain substances absorb energy and store it; emitting it later in the form of radiation. Pieces printed with the Spectrum S-Flex 90A Glow in the dark filament emit a luminous green glow in the dark after having been placed under a light source beforehand.

In order to obtain a high glow in the printed pieces, they should be exposed to a light source for a few minutes. Afterwards, the piece will glow in the dark with strength.

Thanks to the properties of this material, the Spectrum S-Flex 90A Glow in the dark filament is an ideal material for making joints or sealing elements that must be resistant to fluids, guaranteeing the best possible watertightness. In addition, it is a very useful material for applications that require energy absorption such as bumpers or shock absorbers, protective covers, cases, etc. The glow in the dark also makes it a very interesting material for decorative applications.

Each Spectrum S-Flex 90A Glow in the dark filament coil is packaged in the original Spectrum Filaments packaging.

Inside is the filament coil, vacuum packed with a desiccant bag, so that the material maintains its properties intact. For vacuum packaging, aluminium foil with a ZIP seal is used, allowing the user to store the filament after use and prevent it from absorbing moisture. It also includes a user's manual to get the most out of the material.

The Spectrum S-Flex 90A Glow in the dark filament is a flexible filament that is easy to print with almost any 3D FDM printer and its phosphorescence extends the possible applications of this material.

For 3D printing with the Spectrum S-Flex 90A Glow in the dark filament, it is not essential that the 3D printer has a warm bed, but if it does, it is recommended that it be used at a temperature of between 50 and 70°C. In this way, any small sign of warping will be avoided.

The recommended printing temperature for this material is between 185 and 230 ºC and it is recommended to print at a speed of between 15 and 50 mm/s.

As for the temperature of the room where the print is to be made, it is recommended that it be controlled and that there be no draughts.

Regarding its phosphorescence, both the filament and the parts printed with this material should be exposed to a light source for a certain time to obtain optimum results in the dark.
