Ultracur3D RG 9400 B FR is a cutting-edge, flame-retardant resin from the BASF family of Rigid resins . This material was meticulously designed for the production of parts meeting the stringent UL 94 V-0 rating. Catering to the professional sector, this material boasts a halogen-free composition and showcases exceptional flame-retardant attributes. Notably, its exceedingly high heat deflection temperature (HDT) of above 255 ºC elevates its utility, rendering it exceptionally suitable for diverse applications in electronics, custom jigs & fixtures, and industrial environments requiring robust replacement parts.
Diverging from conventional flame-retardant materials, Ultracur3D RG 9400 B FR stands out due to its notably low viscosity (350 mPa at 30 ºC), simplifying handling and printing processes. This unique characteristic streamlines intricate print jobs and enhances operational efficiency, setting it apart in the market. Furthermore, its inherent flame resistance ensures cessation of burning once the ignition source is removed, accentuating its suitability for electronics applications such as cable holders, electrical connectors, battery housings, and high-powered electrical components.
A key advantage of the Ultracur3D RG 9400 B FR resin lies in its compatibility with a spectrum of open source LCD/DLP 3D printers that operate in the 385/405 nm wavelength. Some of the compatible equipment includes the Nexa3D XiP, Zortrax Inkspire 2, and a range of Phrozen models like Sonic Mini, Mini 4K, Mini 8K, Mighty 8K, and Mega 8K. Detailed printer compatibility and recommended settings can be consulted in the Downloads section.
The Ultracur3D RG 9400 B FR resin is a top-tier choice for professionals seeking reliability and performance in their additive manufacturing endeavors thanks to the excellent flame-retardant properties, elevated temperature resistance, ease of use in printing processes, and environmental safety with its halogen and TPO-free formulation. Another factor positioning the Ultracur3D RG 9400 B FR as a reference material is its adaptability to diverse applications across electronics, custom fixtures, and industrial replacements, coupled with its compatibility with various 3D printers.

BASF's Ultracur3D resins are highly sensitive to light and should therefore always be stored in their closed containers and away from light. Before starting a print, the resin should be shaken well and, if possible, vacuumed to remove any bubbles that may have formed.
Once printed, the pieces should be cleaned with the Ultracur3D Cleaner. To do this it is advisable to immerse the pieces in a container with Ultracur3D Cleaner and place this container in an ultrasonic cleaner for 3 minutes. Afterwards, the parts should be rinsed with 2-propanol for a few seconds (a syringe or brush can be used to clean holes and cavities). The third step for washing the part is placing it in a container filled with 2-propanol and placing the container in an ultrasonic bath for 3 minutes.
After cleaning, the pieces should be blow dried with pressurized air or nitrogen and then placed in a warming cabinet at 40 ºC for 30 minutes to dry off any remaining cleaning solvent. Curing conditions will depend on the characteristics of the printer used and the curing equipment. More information on the properties, printing and post-processing of the Ultracur RG 9400 B FR resin can be found in the User Guide and Technical Datasheet in the Downloads section.
