More information Gestionar cookiesThe filament for 3D printing T-lyne is an achievement achieved by the cooperation of two companies each referring in its field. On the one hand Taulman3D, a worldwide reference company in innovation in 3D printing filaments, and on the other hand the reference company in chemical industries DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers (DuPont).
Both companies have developed the new flexible and durable material known as T-lyne which uses DuPont™ Surlyn® ionomer (material used for coating golf balls and bowls because of its high impact strength and durability). T-lyne is a unique crystalline polyethylene (PET) copolymer specifically developed for high durability, flexibility, unique viscosity and a wide temperature range of printing. To achieve the crystalline finish, it is necessary to print with high layer sizes and with a low speed at temperatures between the range 185-242ºC.
3D printing T-lyne filament complies with FDA 21CFR 177.1330 (a) and can be potentially used in prosthetics where the most peculiar feature is the ability to adapt by immersing a part in hot water, make some minor adjustments, then return to cool the piece and the adjusted part will keep the modifications made as if they were printed with that definitive shape.
For many years the clinics have used polyethylene devices, temporary molds and corrective positioning components to meet the exact needs of the end user. The transparency of T-lyne allows to see up to a maximum of 5-8 perimeter of expesor and therefore to determine where adjustments must be made in the prosthesis. T-lyne has a surface that is not slippery, which makes hand tools made with the T-Lyne filament do not slip from the hand.
Taulman T-Lyne filament is ideal if you are looking for a durable material with flexibility similar to that of the PCTPE Nylon and with a crystalline finish to make parts in the 3D printer. It is the first PET copolyester filament with such a high and at the same time resilient flexibility.
In addition, the 3D printing T-lyne filament is easily printed on hot and cold (40 °C) printing surfaces such as Magigoo, 3DLac, BuildTak, PEI, borosilicate glass, acrylic, Kapton Tape, etc. So the warping effect is very small.

Although the ideal temperature may vary on each 3D printer, the average for printing the T-Lyne Dupont filament is 220 °C. Printing too high a temperature may cause bubbles in the print and if the print low temperature can have a completely opaque finish.
It is advisable to use the lower fans. Due to this it is important to adjust the ideal temperature depending on each extruder used. The filament is suitable for any type of nozzle, although the recommended one is 0.4mm. At a printing speed of 20 mm/s.
