Carbon fibre printing surface that improves the adhesion of technical materials.

Fiber Three is a manufacturer of 3D printing materials specialised in the development of technical filaments, especially polyamide filaments. In addition to their filaments, their product catalogue also includes the accessories they have developed to optimise the printing process with technical materials, such as the F3 Safe cases or the F3 ProPrint printing surfaces.

In general, technical filaments are prone to deformations such as warping. F3 ProPrint printing surfaces are products developed to improve the adhesion of these materials during the 3D printing process.

Fiber Three ProPrint printing surfaces are made from carbon fibre and are rated up to 130°C, making them compatible with a wide range of materials, but have been developed to optimise the printing of the same manufacturer's polyamide-based filaments.

Fiber Three has considered some of the most widely used FDM 3D printing equipment in use today to offer compatible versions of F3 ProPrint:

In this way, Fiber Three offers professional users a bonding solution adapted to their FDM 3D printing equipment.

Prusa i3 MK3s+

The Prusa i3 MK3s+ is undoubtedly one of the best-selling desktop FDM 3D printers available today. This is due to the high quality of its components, its print quality and the ability to easily upgrade the equipment.

The ProPrint for Prusa i3 MK3s+ print surface is 1mm thick, and has an adhesive backing to place it directly onto the original steel print surface of the machine.

ProPrint for Prusa i3 MK3s+ has a frosted surface for optimal adhesion of the first layer of material. By combining this printing surface with Fiber Three technical filaments such as F3 PA Pure Pro or filled filaments such as F3 PA-CF Pro or F3 PA-GF Pro, optimum results are achieved.

Raise3D Pro2 / Pro2 Plus

The Raise3D Pro2 and Pro2 Plus are two of today's most widely used professional FDM 3D printers for prototyping and final part production due to their print quality, high print volume and the ability to produce complex parts with a build material and a support material.

The F3 ProPrint Raise3D Pro2 / Pro2 Plus print surface is designed to replace the original print surface of these machines, offering improved material adhesion.

Like the model adapted for Prusa i3 MK3s+, this printing surface is installed by means of the powerful adhesive on the back, which also compensates for thermal stresses.

Ultimaker S3 and Ultimaker S5

The versions of F3 ProPrint adapted to the Ultimaker S3 and S5 models are made of aluminium and carbon fibre. These printing surfaces increase the adhesive power of the material to the surface, improving the quality of the first layer.

The F3 ProPrint printing surface for Ultimaker S3 and S5 are designed to completely replace the original glass printing base of the Ultimaker S3 and S5.

By combining the use of this printing surface with the technical filaments manufactured by Fiber Three, superior performance and optimal results are achieved in the printing process.

Long lifetime

All versions of F3 ProPrint are wear-resistant and parts or material residues can be removed with a squeegee without any problems.

ProPrint printing surfaces are designed for a long service life. Even if material build-up or scratches are visible on the surface, they can be easily removed by gentle wet sanding with fine-grit sandpaper.

For a good maintenance of the product it is recommended to take into account the following guidelines:

  1. It is recommended to clean the printing surface before each use.
  2. Greasy residues generated by handling the product should be removed before printing is started in order to achieve maximum adhesive power.
  3. To avoid possible damage to the product, the printing surface should be allowed to cool down to room temperature before removing the 3D printed parts.
  4. The printing surface can be cleaned with water.

Finally, to further increase the adhesive power of the ProPrint printing surface when using nylon-based technical filaments, a specific adhesive such as Magigoo PA can be used.

When installing and removing the printing surfaces of Prusa i3 MK3s+ and Raise3D Pro2 / Pro2 Plus, the following data should be taken into account:

  • Handling: The adhesive on the back side adheres excellently to the original surfaces of the equipment. It is recommended not to touch the adhesive as it can adhere strongly to fingers or gloves.
  • Installation: Special care should be taken when installing the printing surface as it is difficult to reposition the product after the first contact with the original surface.
  • Calibration (only for Prusa i3 MK3s+): The reference sensor (Z = 0) must be recalibrated after installation of the ProPrint surface.
  • Removal: If you wish to remove the ProPrint print surface, heat the hot bed to 70 °C and use a spatula to separate the product from the original base. Adhesive residues can be removed with solvent.
