The prestigious multinational chemical company BASF has been responsible for the development of a line of light-curable resins created with the aim of meeting the most demanding needs of the industrial sector. These resins, christened Ultracur3D®, include engineering resins and dental resins, among others.

In parallel, BASF has also developed products such as Ultracur3D® Cleaner. Cleaner is an ideal cleaning fluid for removing liquid resin residues deposited on the surface of 3D printed parts with Ultracur3D® resins.

This step should be performed prior to curing to remove any uncured resin and other surface particles that may contaminate the part.

The time required for cleaning depends on the type of resin, temperature, agitation and complexity of the part. The user should be aware that prolonged soaking of parts in Ultracur3D® Cleaner may affect the final properties of the part.

The benefits of BASF Cleaner over other cleaning fluids are as follows:

  • Effectively removes uncured resin from surfaces.
  • Can be rinsed off with water.
  • Non-flammable at room temperature.
  • Will not damage uncured 3D printed parts or cured resins if used as recommended by the manufacturer.

The cleaning procedure is as follows:

  1. First, the part should be immersed in Ultracur3D® Cleaner for up to 10 minutes. A cleaning time of 5 to 8 minutes is recommended. Some parts require less than 5 minutes cleaning time.
  2. It is then recommended to rinse with 2-propanol for an additional 1 to 3 minutes.
  3. The 2-propanol can be blown off with pressurised air but the parts can also be dried at room temperature. For accelerated drying, it is recommended to heat the part for approximately 10 minutes at 60 °C.

Cleaner Ultracur3D® has been successfully tested on a wide range of commercially available SLA/DLP/LCD resins. For tested compatibility with BASF Ultracur3D® resins, please refer to the specifications section.

Ultracur3D® Cleaner is non-harmful and non-flammable at room temperature and can be heated up to 50°C to increase its cleaning efficiency. This cleaner is suitable for industrial parts washing and equipment cleaning.

Ultracur3D® cleaner can normally be used until it contains approximately 10-20% resin or until cleaning performance is significantly reduced.

For proper storage, it is recommended to keep the container tightly closed in a well-ventilated place at room temperature.

When the cleaner reaches the end of its shelf life, it should be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
