The Filamet Titanium 64-23 filament from The Virtual Foundry allows you to transform any open-frame FFF/FDM 3D printer into a solution capable of creating real metal parts, functional prototypes, and low-volume production without traditional tooling. With a titanium content of 78% to 82% (Ti-6Al-4V ELI, grade 23), it combines the printability of PLA with the strength and durability of metal, ideal for industrial, engineering, and advanced design applications.

Compatibility with Open 3D Printers

The Filamet Titanium 64-23 filament works with most open-frame 3D printers and 3D pens without specialized equipment or proprietary hardware. This flexibility allows for complex projects, functional prototypes, and final metal parts without technical limitations.

Formats and Technical Properties

Available in 1.75mm and 2.85mm spools (0.25kg and 0.5kg), it suits small projects or larger production runs. With a density of 2.50g/cc to 2.85g/cc, it produces solid and precise parts. Compatible with 0.6mm hardened steel nozzles, it ensures stable printing, minimal warping, and a PLA-like printing experience.

Easy and Reliable 3D Printing

This filament provides stable, hassle-free printing, with minimal shrinkage and uniform extrusion. Its low hygroscopic behavior ensures consistent results even in complex projects, without drying that degrades the binder.

Real and Sinterable Metal Parts

After printing, parts can be sintered in a furnace to become 100% metal, yielding final titanium components with high strength and precision. This reduces machining costs, enables functional prototyping, and allows short-run metal production without traditional tooling.

Advanced Applications

The Filamet Titanium 64-23 filament is ideal for advanced engineering, industrial design, functional prototyping, and manufacturing unique or small-batch parts. Its versatility enables innovation in projects that previously required complex and expensive industrial processes, opening new opportunities for metal product development.

Quality and Specialized Support

Made in the United States, this filament guarantees consistency, precision, and specialized technical support, ensuring every printed part meets the highest standards of durability and performance in professional settings.

Conclusion

The Filamet Titanium 64-23 filament from The Virtual Foundry combines printability, metal strength, and compatibility with open-frame 3D printers to elevate any project to a professional level. Ideal for engineers, designers, and makers who want to create functional metal parts, precise prototypes, and low-volume production without traditional tooling, this filament stands as the best choice for metal 3D printing. Each project benefits from high-quality materials and expert support, guaranteeing exceptional and consistent results with every print.

The Titanium 64-23 Filamet is printed with a 0.6 mm hardened steel nozzle and has characteristics similar to PLA, with minimal or no warping. The filament must feed straight into the extruder.

It is less hygroscopic than PLA and should not be dried, as drying degrades the binder. The metal particles are surrounded by plastic, which preserves the filament's shape memory on the spool for about a day, making printing easier.

The spool should be placed to minimize friction. On Direct Drive printers, hang it 30–45 cm above the printer; on Bowden systems, place it beside or below the extruder. Only the filament going into the extruder should be heated; heating the entire spool makes it very brittle.
