Centaur PP from FormFutura is a high-performance polypropylene (PP) pellet specifically designed for large format 3D printing (LFAM). This advanced material ensures exceptional layer adhesion, achieving Z-axis strength comparable to injection-molded polypropylene. With an elongation at break of nearly 650%, Centaur PP uniquely combines flexibility, toughness, and long-term durability, making it a reliable choice for industrial and consumer applications that demand mechanical strength and lasting performance.

Mechanical performance and thermal resistance

Its slightly flexible and smooth structure provides superior impact resistance and consistent performance, while its heat resistance above 100 °C makes it ideal for applications requiring stability under heat and humidity. Centaur PP stands out for its combination of processability, chemical resistance, thermal stability, and durability, positioning it as a premium polypropylene material for LFAM additive manufacturing. It is particularly suited for manufacturers seeking lightweight, impact-resistant, and durable components across industrial, medical, consumer, and food sectors.

Safety, hygiene, and versatility

This advanced polypropylene is compatible with food contact applications, safe for direct use in regulated environments, and suitable for parts that must withstand dishwashers and microwaves, maintaining material integrity under heat and moisture. Its light density of 0.9 g/cc makes it the perfect choice for weight-sensitive designs, enabling the production of portable components, ergonomic parts, and large functional structures. In addition, its watertight printing capability ensures leak-free results even with single walls, while its wear and fatigue resistance guarantees reliability in mechanical and repetitive-use applications.

Industrial and medical applications

Centaur PP is ideal for a wide range of applications:

  • In the orthopedic and prosthetics field, it enables the creation of lightweight, strong, and skin-safe parts.
  • In the medical industry, it provides durable, impact-resistant components for orthopedic and surgical applications.
  • For household appliances and consumer goods, it ensures heat- and wear-resistant parts.
  • In food contact applications, it meets regulations and is resistant to washing and microwaving.

Its combination of lightweight and durability makes it an optimal solution for sectors where the strength-to-weight ratio is critical, such as transportation, industrial design, and functional component manufacturing.

High-performance material for LFAM

With Centaur PP from FormFutura, companies can achieve large-format 3D printed parts with high strength, durability, and reliability, leveraging an industrial polypropylene optimized for LFAM that offers superior mechanical performance, chemical resistance, thermal stability, and food contact safety. Its advanced formulation enables consistent, aesthetically flawless, and functional results, making it the ideal alternative for industrial, medical, and consumer manufacturing that demands high-performance materials.

Centaur PP from FormFutura is a safe and inert material under normal storage conditions. To ensure maximum quality, stability, and long-term performance, it is recommended to keep the pellets in a hermetically sealed container in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated environment, avoiding direct exposure to sunlight or intense light sources.

As a non-hygroscopic polypropylene, it does not require pre-drying before printing, as it does not absorb moisture. This simplifies the process and ensures consistent and reliable prints from the first batch.

Recommended extrusion temperatures for large-format 3D printing (LFAM) are: Zone 1: 200 °C ±20 °C, max 240 °C, Zone 2: 210 °C ±20 °C with nozzle at 240 °C ±10 °C, and Zone 3: 220 °C ±20 °C. Following these ranges ensures uniform flow, minimal warping, and strong layer adhesion, producing large, durable parts with professional finish.

Following these guidelines allows you to maximize the properties of Centaur PP, achieving strong, flexible, and reliable 3D components for industrial, medical, and consumer applications.
