PA11 Dark - SLS Printing Powder

FABULOUS-PA11.DARK-20KG
Format
Approximate delivery date: Friday 8 November - Thursday 14 November

PA11 Dark is a high-performance composite powder based on polyamide 11, developed by Fabulous Materials for selective laser sintering (SLS) 3D printing. This fine powder, with an average particle size of 45-60 µm, is designed for producing detailed models and functional parts that require high durability, such as fuel or oil tanks in the automotive and aerospace industries.

Offering excellent chemical resistance to a variety of harsh substances including oils, hydrocarbons, and solvents, the material also boasts superior elasticity and ductility compared to PA12. The deep black color of the powder eliminates the need for post-print dyeing, further simplifying the production process. Additionally, the powder is bio-sourced and sustainable, aligning with modern environmental standards.

Specific properties

In terms of mechanical properties, PA11 Dark excels with a Young’s modulus exceeding 1500 MPa and a flexural modulus of over 1300 MPa, making it highly resilient. Its tensile strength averages 45 MPa in the XY direction and 40 MPa in Z, with an impressive elongation at break of 40% in XY and 20% in Z.

The material also demonstrates excellent impact resistance, with no break recorded in Charpy impact strength tests. With a Shore hardness of 80 D and a melting point of approximately 196-204 ºC, the powder is both tough and versatile, suitable for demanding applications in harsh environments. Its moisture absorption, measured at 1.12% over 24 hours at 23 ºC, is a crucial factor to consider in design and handling.

3D printer compatibility

PA11 Dark is compatible with both industrial and compact desktop SLS 3D printers, ensuring broad accessibility for various scales of production. The powder is available in two formulations: one optimized for industrial equipment from major manufacturers like EOS, Farsoon, and 3DSystems, and another designed for desktop SLS printers like Sinterit and Sintratec. To achieve optimal results, it is important to use open parameters when printing with this material. In case of uncertainty, consulting with the equipment manufacturer or supplier is recommended to ensure the correct settings are applied.

Third-party manufacturers may be compatible with the PA11 Dark powder, though it might not be available on all equipment without an upgrade. In such cases, contacting the equipment manufacturer or supplier is advisable.

While the generic PA11 parameters should serve as a good starting point for this material, some adjustments may be necessary to achieve optimal results.

The material is offered in two formats: Industrial and Desktop. For industrial equipment from manufacturers like EOS, Farsoon, 3DSystems, Prodways, Sondasys, Aspect, or Ricoh, the Industrial format is recommended.

For compact printers from Sinterit or Sintratec, the Desktop format is required. For any other equipment, it is best to consult before purchasing the material.
