PLA is one of the most widely used materials in 3D printing today because it does not give off harmful gases and because it is easy to print.

PLA 3D870 is a material with high general characteristics, comparable to ABS and in some aspects even superior, while maintaining the ease of printing of standard PLA.

PLA 3D870 is one of the most powerful and widely used PLAs in the world for 3D printing. This material stands out above others for having a softening temperature similar to ABS, for its high impact resistance and for the increase of its mechanical properties when tempered.

Tempering is carried out after the 3D printing process is completed. After tempering, the softening temperature, which is one of the weak points of PLA because it has a low value, increases until it is very close to that of ABS. Another property that greatly increases its value is the impact resistance.

3D870 PLA pellets are small cylinders of the highest quality material and do not incorporate recycled or reclaimed material.

Thanks to these qualities, 3D870 PLA pellets are perfect for 3D printing, achieving a high print quality. There are several methods for using pellets in 3D printing:

  • 3D870 PLA pellets can be used in the manufacture of filament for FDM 3D printers using Filastruder or any other filament extruder.
  • It is possible to use a pellet extruder for direct 3D printing.


To obtain different colours, the 3D870 PLA material pellets must be combined with the desired dyes. In this way, custom colours can be achieved. This can be very useful, as in some cases it can be difficult to find the exact colour required for each application. This is a great advantage, especially when producing small series of parts in a particular colour.

With the combination of 3D870 PLA Pellets and a good filament extruder such as Filastruder, it is possible to obtain 3D printing filament with qualities similar to those of a commercial 3D870 PLA filament.

When using 3D870 PLA Pellets to make filament with a filament extruder such as Filastruder or using a pellet extruder for direct 3D printing, it should be noted that the extrusion temperature must be regulated in relation to the extrusion speed used. The suitable temperature for extruding 3D870 PLA pellets in the Filastruder is between 220 and 230ºC. For higher extrusion speeds the temperature can be increased to 240°C, but in this case there is a risk of small air bubbles appearing in the filament.

It is very important to store the 3D870 PLA pellets in an airtight bag to prevent them from acquiring moisture from the environment before use. If the pellets have moisture in them, the filament you make may contain small imperfections. Once the filament has been manufactured using 3D870 PLA pellets, it is also recommended to store the filament in a dry place or in an airtight bag. This prevents the filament from absorbing moisture, thus obtaining better results during 3D printing.
