Spectrum is a European company based in Poland that focuses on the production of consumables for FFF / FDM technology 3D printers under the Spectrum Filaments brand.

Within its range of materials is the Thermoactive PLA. This material is based on its standard PLA filament, added with a thermochromic pigment. Thanks to this, the thermoactive PLA filament has a unique property: its color changes with temperature.

At a temperature below 30 ºC, the color of the filament is red. However, when a temperature of 30 ºC or more is reached, the color turns beige / natural. With this peculiar feature, the PLA Thermoactive filament is perfect for printing objects where changes in temperature must be visually perceived. Thus, this material is suitable for:

  • Educational projects
  • Thermometers
  • Coating for hot beverage containers
  • Coating for boilers and thermostats for other electronic devices

Furthermore, the Thermoactive PLA filament has good deformation resistance, no shrinkage after cooling, durability and stability during printing. It does not require a hot bed for printing and has a great layer adhesion. All these characteristics make Thermoactive PLA an easy material to print with almost any 3D FDM printer, obtaining very good results.

Each coil of PLA Thermoactive filament is presented packed with the original packaging of Spectrum Filaments.

Inside is the filament coil, vacuum packed with a desiccant bag, so that the material maintains its properties intact. For vacuum packaging, aluminum foil with ZIP closure is used, which allows the user to save the filament after use and prevent moisture absorption. In addition, it includes a user manual to get the most out of the material.
