This PET-G MDT X-Ray DT filament from Rosa3D represents a solution developed for environments where contaminant control is essential, providing advanced detection via magnetic and X-ray systems even for tiny fragments. This PET-G is designed for use in industries with strict food safety standards. This food-safe material offers high dimensional stability, resistance to mold and moisture, and long-lasting durability without corrosion, toxic additives, or metal fibers.

The formulation allows smooth and reliable printing, producing no dust or residues that could compromise process quality or contaminate products. Its compatibility with magnetic and X-ray detection provides an extra layer of protection on production lines, while its resistance to moisture and mold makes it an ideal filament for molds, containers, tools, and packaging components in contact with food. Being wear-resistant, it does not damage the nozzle or generate harmful particles.

The PET-G MDT also offers high mechanical stability, being stronger than PLA and having low shrinkage, which reduces warping issues and allows printing highly precise functional parts. Additionally, its non-corrosive nature and food-safe properties reinforce its use in molds, caps, containers, or parts in both high-hygiene and industrial applications.

In conclusion, this filament stands out as a top choice for 3D printing in sectors demanding maximum contamination control, thanks to its magnetic and X-ray detection, food safety, durability, and dimensional accuracy.

How to use the Rosa3D Masterspool with refill-format filament

Image 3: How to use the Rosa3D Masterspool with refill-format filament. Source: Rosa3D.

The eco-friendly refill format significantly reduces plastic use and helps pave the way for sustainable 3D printing. To use this PLA Rainbow with a 3D printer, the filament must be wound onto the Rosa3D Masterspool, a smart solution specifically designed for Rosa3D refill-format filaments. This reusable masterspool is made from recycled PC and has a CO2 carbon footprint approximately 90% lower than a standard plastic spool. The masterspool is also impact- and heat-resistant, making it compatible with filament dryers as well as AMS systems. Alternatively, solutions like the F2P variable spool holder can be used.

For optimal results, it is recommended to set the extrusion temperature between 240 and 260 °C, ensuring proper material melting without compromising surface quality. The print bed should be maintained between 60 and 80 °C to guarantee correct first-layer adhesion and reduce the risk of warping during the process.

The use of a part cooling fan should be limited to a range of 0% to 25%, helping to maintain layer cohesion and improve the mechanical strength of the final part. Since this filament has special requirements, the use of an enclosed chamber is highly recommended, as it allows better control of the printing environment and increases dimensional stability.

The material requires drying conditions prior to each print. A pre-dry at 60 °C for at least 4 hours is advised to prevent moisture absorption, which can cause defects such as bubbles, rough surfaces, or inconsistent extrusion. This step is essential to maintain quality in industrial applications and parts intended for food contact.
