The PC-FR from Bambu Lab is a high-performance polymer filament designed for environments that require fire resistance, thermal stability, and mechanical robustness. It complies with the UL 94-2023 V-0 standard, certifying its minimal flammability and rapid self-extinguishing in case of fire exposure. This makes it ideal for electrical enclosures, automotive components, functional parts in industrial environments, and critical electronics.

Among its main physical properties, it offers an approximate density of 1.18 g/cm³, a Vicat softening temperature around 114 °C, and flexural and tensile strengths within professional standards. Its heat deflection under load (HDT) reaches about 113-114 °C, allowing work in high-temperature conditions without loss of shape or strength.

To achieve optimal results when printing with PC-FR, it is recommended to follow best practices that ensure material stability:

  • Pre-drying: 80 °C for 8 hours in a forced-air oven, or alternatively 90-100 °C on a heated bed for about 12 hours.
  • Keep ambient relative humidity below 20%, using sealed containers with desiccant.
  • Use a printer with an enclosure to minimize warping and shrinkage.

Recommended applications include structural parts requiring impact resistance, mechanical supports directly exposed to heat, electrical component boxes, enclosures in demanding environments, and objects where fire safety standards are required. It is also suitable for advanced home users with well-equipped printers.

As precautions, avoid using soft-material nozzles that may wear quickly, ensure good adhesion on the print bed (smooth or textured PEI plates are preferred), and use adhesives if necessary. Proper layer cooling settings and avoiding drafts significantly help prevent deformation.
