Nanovia PA-6 CF pellets are composed of polyamide-6 (nylon) reinforced with carbon fibres. The added fibres allow for less shrinkage during the printing process and higher printing speed compared to polyamide.

Nylon (PA) is a synthetic polymer from the polyamide group. It is an affordable and versatile material that is widely used in 3D printing due to its durability, flexibility, thermoplasticity and resistance to abrasion, impact, friction, corrosion and chemicals. Its first uses were mainly in the consumer goods industry (toothbrushes, women's stockings), but nylon quickly found other, more advanced uses, for example to make parachutes, ropes, bulletproof vests and helmet linings for the US military.

The addition of carbon fibre (CF) makes the material stiffer and more dimensionally stable, resulting in a reduced risk of warping. Parts printed with CF-enriched filaments are an excellent substitute for metal parts due to their lower weight. These properties make CF-reinforced plastic perfect for the automotive industry (high tensile strength and modulus, high temperature tolerance and low thermal expansion) and the aerospace industry (weight reduction of up to 50% while retaining functionality).

  • PA6-CF pellets can be used in the manufacture of filament for FDM 3D printers using Filastruder or any other filament extruder.
  • It is possible to use a pellet extruder for 3D printing directly.

With the combination of PA6-CF Pellets and a good filament extruder such as Filastruder, it is possible to obtain 3D printing filament with qualities similar to those of a commercial PA6 filament.

When using PA6-CF Pellets to make filament with a filament extruder such as Filastruder or using a pellet extruder for direct 3D printing, it should be noted that the extrusion temperature must be regulated in relation to the extrusion speed used.

This material is ideal for mechanical parts that require shock absorption capacity and good heat resistance up to 100 °C.

O nylon é um material altamente higroscópico e deve ser armazenado adequadamente para evitar a sua humidade. Deve ser armazenado em embalagens seladas a vácuo ou numa cabine de secagem. Se PA6 CF for exposto a níveis elevados de humidade durante períodos prolongados, deve ser seco durante 4 horas a 60°C.
