The Prusament PP Glass Fiber Natural 850 g (NFC) is a glass fiber reinforced polypropylene filament developed and produced in-house by Prusa Research, with guaranteed manufacturing tolerances of ±0.04 mm and NFC smart labeling that allows easy reading of each spool's data.

Material behavior

The polypropylene (PP) matrix provides a lightweight material with excellent thermal and chemical resistance, while the incorporated glass fibers increase dimensional stability, reducing the risk of warping during demanding printing processes. The filament has a matte and slightly rough surface, and although it is relatively easy to print, a hardened nozzle is required due to the abrasiveness of the glass fibers.

Mechanical and thermal properties

This material stands out for its ability to withstand high service temperatures (approximately 138 °C) and very good resistance to aggressive chemicals, making it ideal for demanding applications in industrial and technical environments. The combination of lightness, dimensional stability, and mechanical strength allows printing structural components, functional parts, and moderately loaded elements without significant deformation.

Using a specific PP print sheet significantly improves adhesion on print surfaces, as conventional PEI surfaces provide very low adhesion for this type of material.

Recommended applications

Thanks to its high thermal, chemical, and dimensional resistance, this filament is suitable for applications in sectors such as automotive, aerospace, or technical laboratories, where functional parts with superior mechanical properties and stability under demanding conditions are required. It can also be used to print structural drone parts, custom supports, or elements that require a specific combination of lightness and strength.

Other

HS Code 8477.9
  1. Use a hardened nozzle (hardened steel recommended) since glass fibers are highly abrasive and can damage brass nozzles.
  2. Prepare the print surface with a PP sheet or a specific release layer, as adhesion is very low on standard PEI surfaces.
  3. Set the printer to a temperature range of ≈245 °C at the nozzle and ≈95 °C on the heated bed to optimize flow and adhesion.
  4. Print in a well-ventilated room or inside an enclosed printer, as the material can release slight odors and fine particles during printing.
  5. Avoid extremely fine details; this filament has excellent mechanical strength and dimensional stability, but it is not ideal for very small, complex geometries.
