The reusable spool from Bambu Lab is a solution designed to minimize plastic consumption in the filament cycle: the system allows the use of refills instead of disposable spools, achieving a significant reduction in waste (official documentation indicates at least 20% less plastic consumption per filament).

Made from an ABS+PC alloy for strength and thermal resistance (rated up to ≤ 90 °C), the spool is intended for repeated use and is compatible with Bambu Lab printers as well as the range of refills designed for this system. Its design maintains standard dimensions (outer diameter ≈ 200 mm, inner diameter ≈ 55 mm, width ≈ 67 mm), ensuring stable filament feeding and seamless integration with AMS systems and compatible filament handling units.

For workshops and professional environments, the operational advantage is twofold: cost and environmental impact reduction by avoiding the constant production of new spools, along with the option to use refills in more compact formats. To explore refill filament options compatible with this type of spool, consult specialized suppliers.

You will have a wide piece (1x), narrow piece (1x), spacing shim (2x).

Find the locator (a tiny block on the wide piece). Align it with the notch on the inner ring of the filament roll. Insert the wide piece into the filament roll.

Step 1. Insert the narrow piece and align the groove of each piece inside of the spool until it is pushed firmly into the wide piece.

Step 2. Once it is pushed firmly into the wide piece, rotate the narrow piece clockwise until it slides into place and you hear it lock.

Step 1. Make sure the spacing shim is installed inside the spool (under the triangle).

Step 2. Tear apart and pull out the plastic strips.
