The High Flow ObXidian nozzle from E3D for the Creality K2 Plus incorporates high-precision engineering to deliver superior extrusion performance, combining an all-metal design with an integrated heatbreak that optimizes thermal transfer and reduces leaks and overheating issues.

Its internal multi-channel architecture increases the contact surface with the filament, which allows a higher volumetric flow rate and support for high-speed printing parameters; this provides more stable and consistent extrusion as the volume demand per layer increases.

The assembly includes a hardened steel insert coated with E3DLC technology, achieving much higher wear resistance compared to conventional nozzles and making it the ideal choice for abrasive and fiber-reinforced composite filaments, with a non-stick effect that reduces material buildup around the tip.

The quadruple metal construction, including the titanium heatbreak with a pronounced thermal gradient, minimizes the risk of heat creep (upward thermal flow) by keeping the cold zone stable and the hot zone efficient, resulting in greater reliability for long prints and profiles that demand high volumetric flows.

Even when the print speed increases for rapid production or large parts, the nozzle maintains proper layer adhesion and consistent surface quality, delivering functional parts with precise finishes and mechanical properties suitable for demanding applications.

Compatibility with standard and technical filaments: PLA, ABS, PETG, TPU, PP, PC, PA and fiber-reinforced versions such as PLA-CF, ABS-CF, PETG-CF, PC-CF and PA-CF, making this nozzle a versatile solution for both rapid prototyping and high-performance functional parts.

Designed for easy maintenance and quick nozzle changes, its architecture allows replacement without complex interventions, improving productivity in additive manufacturing workshops and production environments that require frequent tool changes.

When using composite materials or filaments with abrasive fillers, it is essential to consider the particle size contained in each blend. Some filaments reinforced with carbon fiber, glass, or minerals may include particles with a diameter close to or even greater than 0.4 mm, increasing the risk of clogging if nozzles with small openings are used. For this reason, it is always recommended to check the filament’s technical data sheet to determine the minimum compatible nozzle diameter before starting the print.

ObXidian-coated nozzles offer significantly higher wear resistance than other models on the market, far exceeding conventional hardened nozzles. However, recent advances in engineering filaments with highly aggressive fillers — such as those from the Fiberon range by Polymaker (PA612-CF, PA6-CF, PA6-GF, and PA12-CF) — can cause progressive wear even in high-strength nozzles. This effect is normal when working with fiber-reinforced high-performance polymers.

To maintain optimal performance and a long nozzle lifespan, it is recommended to perform regular inspections and replace the nozzle when signs of erosion or loss of extrusion precision appear. Keeping the nozzle clean, avoiding carbonized residues, and following the correct thermal parameters for each filament greatly contributes to print stability and final part quality.

The continuous development of new solutions by hotend manufacturers aims to meet the growing demand for advanced technical materials. Nevertheless, it is important to remember that no nozzle is completely immune to extreme wear when working with highly abrasive filaments, so the choice of nozzle size and material should be based on the type of polymer and the intended production level.
