To achieve optimal strength, parts printed with Rigid Pro resin necessitate UV post-curing with an added heat application. This curing process can be fine-tuned to enhance thermal performance further, with an optional thermal curing step that significantly improves the material’s overall characteristics.

The post-processing workflow for the Rigid Pro resin is quite user-friendly. First, the 3D printed part has to be cleaned twice for 2 minutes each time in clean Liqcreate Resin Cleaner or IPA alcohol, by agitation or in an ultrasonic cleaning device. If the design features small cavities, an additional 1-minute cleaning in fresh solvent combined with brush application will help remove any remaining uncured resin. After cleaning, the part 3D printed with the Rigid Pro resin should be set aside for drying for about 30 minutes until no shiny spots are visible on the surface of the part.

It absolutely crucial that the parts are dry before post-curing. The curing of wet or sticky parts will lead to mechanical and surface defects. For standard non-high-temperature applications, a curing duration of 30 minutes at 60 ºC is effective in achieving desirable mechanical properties. For applications demanding greater temperature resistance, it is advisable to extend the curing time to 120 minutes at the same temperature. Curing units such as the Form Cure are suitable for this process. It is essential to avoid UV curing at temperatures significantly above 60 ºC, as uncured parts do not exhibit high-temperature resistance. Additional post-curing settings and information for various curing units can be found on the Liqcreate website.

The Liqcreate resin bottles should be stored in a clean and dry environment, out of direct sunlight and in a temperature of 5-30 ºC. Before use, the resin bottle should be shaken energetically for at least 1 minute (at least 3 minutes in the case of filled resins). Once shaken, the resin should be left to rest for around 10 minutes to let the air bubble escape. Leftover resin can be poured back into the bottle but it should be first filtered to ensure there is no polymer residue present. Safety equipment such as protective garments, gloves and face protection is highly recommended for the handling of resin.

More information on the Rigid Pro resin, such as 3D printing parameters, support settings, recommended part orientation, troubleshooting, etc., can be found on the Liqcreate website, as well as in the documents in the Attachments section.
