The Dental Cast Cherry PRO resin from Harz Labs is a high-performance castable resin engineered for dental applications requiring direct metal casting and pressed ceramics. This semitransparent cherry-colored resin ensures exceptional casting results, thanks to its zero ash content (less than 0.1%) and readiness for use in shock cycles. Its unique formulation supports the creation of smooth, pore-free surfaces, meeting the stringent requirements of ISO 10993, a standard for biocompatibility. It must be kept in mind that the biocompatibility of the final part depends on the correct printing and post-processing of this resin, and must be assessed for each final product.

Designed with stability and precision in mind, the resin delivers reliable mechanical properties (superior to its predecessor, the Dental Cast Cherry resin), including a Shore D hardness of 86, a flexural modulus of 1500 MPa, and an elongation at break of 12%. Its thermoplastic behavior ensures melting within a wide temperature range of 250–300 ºC, contributing to the production of casted models with exceptionally smooth surfaces. These characteristics make it an ideal choice for dental professionals seeking high-quality and reproducible results.

The instructions for the casting of the Dental Cast Cherry PRO resin can be found on the Harz Labs website. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use phosphate-bonded casting investment material capable of handling plastics at high temperatures. Following the manufacturer’s guidelines for the casting investment material is crucial to achieving the best outcomes. This attention to detail ensures the compatibility of the resin with advanced dental procedures while maintaining precision throughout the process.

The Dental Cast Cherry PRO resin is versatile and user-friendly, suitable even for small laboratory setups due to its low odor and absence of hazardous monomers. Its compatibility with a wide range of LCD/DLP 3D printers, including the Anycubic Photon Mono M3 Max and the Elegoo resin 3D printers from the Mars 4 and Saturn 3/4 series, makes it a practical solution for diverse professional environments. Harz Labs’ innovative material enables dental specialists to produce detailed, accurate castings efficiently and safely.

The recommended printing settings for various resin 3D printers can be consulted on the HARZ Labs support page. To see the settings for specific resins simply choose your 3D printer model and find the resin you want to use.

Once a print is finished, it has to be removed from the manufacturing platform with a special spatula for post-processing. It is crucial not to damage the surface of the platform during this operation.

Part post-processing

Then, the part should be immersed in IPA alcohol or other recommended solvent to remove the non-solidified resin. After that time, pressurized air should be applied to the part until it is completely dry.

To achieve the maximum properties that HARZ Labs resins can provide, it is necessary to post-cure the part in a curing chamber for the recommended time and at the recommended temperature. This process helps eliminate internal stresses.

Since the washing and post-curing parameters will largely depend on the equipment used, Harz Labs has preparad a post-processing table where the recommended parameters for each resin are given.

Safety measures

3D printing with resin requires certain personal protection measures to ensure the workflow is safe for all involved. It is recommended to use gloves and safety glasses, as well as use some kind of air filtering system if the printer is not equipped with one.

Resin storage

Avoid leaving resin in the vat for extended periods. Store the printer and resin bottle in a location away from direct sunlight, luminous or LED lights, and heat sources such as heaters to prevent curing.

To learn more about how to properly store 3D printing resins, read our blog post on the topic. There we discuss topics such as the effect of light, heat and moisture on resins, as well as resin recovery after printing, resin expiration date and how to preserve the biocompatibility of 3D printing resins.
