The KeyGuide 3D printing resin belongs to the KeyPrint catalog of professional dental resins. It is a class I biocompatible material that produces stiff and durable dental guides capable of withstanding the forces of guided surgery in the oral cavity. The KeyGuide resin produces clear parts for maximum visibility and thanks to the stability of the 3D printed guides, it allows for the placement of implants at a precise angle and depth.

Furthermore, when compared with 8 competitor resins for the same application, the KeyGuide resin demonstrates superiority in terms of the printed part’s flexural strength and flexural modulus. Just like all KeyPrint resins, the KeyGuide resin can be used on any open architecture DLP 3D printer utilizing wavelengths between 385-405 nm, for example on the Phrozen Sonic XL 4K printer. A full list of 3D printers compatible with the KeyGuide resin can be found in the Downloads section.

The guides 3D printed with the KeyGuide resin are disposable medical devices, customized for a single patient to be used in their oral cavity during guided dental implant surgery. This is why guides 3D printed with the KeyGuide resin must be sterilized in a steam autoclave prior to the intended use. The validated sterilization process is explained in the sterilization guide available in the Downloads section.

The KeyGuide resin is a result of KeyStone Industry's years of experience in the sectors of polymers and dentistry. The KeyPrint resins give high quality reliable results on any compatible 3D printing equipment, and after post-processing, the 3D printed part is a fully biocompatible and sterilizable tool for dental surgery.

There are certain steps that need to be taken before use. The resin should be tempered to ambient temperature (20-25°C) prior to printing. The bottle should be shaken 1 hour prior to use in order to achieve consistency of the resin and to prevent bubbles. If bubbles are still present, they should be removed with a clean spatula. The KeyPrint resin should only be used in accordance with the product-specific predetermined settings for the user’s DLP 3D printer with a 385nm - 405 nm UV light source. Any other equipment requires validation by the manufacturer.

The post processing of parts 3D printed with the KeyGuide dental resin entails 4 steps.

  1. The part should be cleaned with IPA alcohol (at least 97%) just like shown in video 1 and then dried with compressed air. Residual resin (visibly glossy) should be removed by repeating the washing and drying.
  2. The part should be placed in a curing machine (flat to prevent warping). The validated cure box settings can be consulted on the manufacturer’s website.
  3. Final processing such as polishing can be done now. KeyPrint shows how to polish parts 3D printed with their resins in this video.
  4. Lastly, the part must be sterilized in a steam autoclave prior to the intended use. The complete sterilization instructions can be found in the Downloads section.

More information about the KeyGuide resin can be found in the Downloads section. The KeyPrint KeyGuide resin should be stored in a cool, dry place and away from light. Precautions should be taken at all times to ensure user safety. It is recommended to use protective gloves and garments, and a face screen to prevent burns caused by hot resin.
