The beginnings of Filkemp

At first, Filkemp was a side project established in 1998 at a monofilaments department of the multinational Hoechst AG, back then a world leader in the chemicals and pharmaceuticals sector. Nowadays Filkemp is a company on its own, with its manufacturing facilities in Portugal. Filkemp currently holds a global leading position in the production of various combinations of special polymers and copolymers such as PET, PA6, PA610, PA612 or PLA-N. These materials are widely used in the production of technical polymers for the paper industry, conveyor belts or industrial filtration, abrasive brushes, recreational and commercial fishing, tennis racket strings, mooring lines, agriculture and, most recently, and filaments for 3D printing.

Filkemp's production facilities are strategically located near Lisbon, Portugal, barely 18 km from the port of Lisbon.
