The Smartfil Eco Coffee ecological filament from Smart Materials sets a new standard in 3D printing, combining sustainability, quality, and creativity. This innovative material integrates 80% bio-based PLA with 20% recycled coffee waste, offering a responsible, eco-friendly alternative. Each spool reuses coffee residues from the catering sector, transforming them into a biodegradable filament that reduces the ecological footprint without sacrificing strength or print precision.

Organic texture and natural roasted coffee aroma

The surface of Smartfil Eco Coffee features a matte finish with a slightly grainy texture, thanks to the natural coffee particles. During printing, it releases a delicate roasted coffee aroma, turning every project into a unique sensory experience. Small color variations between spools enhance its authentic, natural character, providing a distinctive finish for any creation.

Versatile applications for sustainable 3D printing

This PLA filament with recycled coffee is perfect for projects combining creativity and sustainability: from eco-friendly decor like lamps, vases, and candle holders, to responsible prototypes, promotional products with environmental identity, and biodegradable desk accessories. It’s also ideal for art and sculpture projects requiring natural texture and tone, always offering a professional finish with an ecological approach.

Reliable mechanical properties

Despite its eco-friendly composition, Smartfil Eco Coffee maintains outstanding mechanical properties, ensuring strength and durability in every print:

  • Tensile modulus: 3330.6 MPa
  • Flexural strength: 49.2 MPa
  • Tensile elongation: 13.4%

These characteristics ensure the filament is suitable for both creative and functional projects, maintaining structural integrity and professional quality.

Commitment to sustainability and innovation

Smartfil Eco Coffee from Smart Materials represents the perfect fusion of technological innovation and environmental awareness. By reusing organic waste, it reduces ecological impact and promotes responsible 3D printing. Its natural finish and coffee aroma provide added value to every project, standing out from conventional filaments and making it the preferred choice for makers, designers, and environmentally conscious companies.

To achieve optimal results with Smartfil Eco Coffee by Smart Materials, it is recommended to work with a printing temperature between 205 °C and 220 °C. This range allows proper fusion of the biobased PLA with the recycled coffee particles, ensuring smooth extrusion, strong layer adhesion, and a uniform surface finish.

The ideal printing speed ranges between 25 and 50 mm/s. Moderate speeds improve detail definition and help prevent potential irregularities derived from the biocomposite nature of the material, especially in decorative parts or complex geometries.

To ensure proper adhesion to the build plate, it is recommended to use a bed temperature between 40 °C and 60 °C. This range helps minimize the risk of warping and contributes to a stable first layer, particularly in larger prints.

The use of a closed chamber is not required, as Smartfil Eco Coffee performs stably in open-frame 3D printers, maintaining excellent dimensional quality and reducing internal stresses during cooling.

Using the part cooling fan at 100% is recommended to enhance detail definition and achieve a consistent matte finish. Proper cooling highlights the natural texture of the filament and optimizes the final quality of the printed part.

Before using the product, it is recommended to consult the technical data sheet, available in the Attachments tab.
