The Prusa3D XL printer incorporates an advanced heated bed equipped with high Curie temperature magnets, which firmly hold the removable spring steel sheets. These flexible magnetic bases are essential to provide a more versatile, comfortable, and efficient printing experience, facilitating the removal of parts without compromising print quality.

Its flexibility makes it easy to remove finished parts

Smooth PEI: Ideal surface for PLA and a wide variety of materials

The smooth PEI coated sheet is the preferred option for printing PLA thanks to its excellent adhesion, which also extends to other common filaments. Its smooth surface ensures a uniform and glossy base finish, providing parts with a professional appearance and without imperfections on the base. It is common during use for small shiny marks to appear caused by contact with the nozzle or tools during printing or post-processing. These marks are superficial, do not affect adhesion or the overall finish. For a completely uniform look, the surface can be restored by gently cleaning the affected areas with the hard side of a dry sponge using circular motions, a simple and effective method to prolong the sheet's lifespan. This sheet is especially recommended for users printing a wide range of filaments seeking a versatile base that guarantees stability and good finish without complications.

PEI powder-coated steel with satin finish: balance between adhesion and durability

The satin sheet expands the base options for the Prusa3D XL with a surface between smooth and textured. Its powder coating with a slightly rough matte finish is designed to offer an optimal adhesion level for filaments such as PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, FlexFill 98A, polycarbonate, among others. This versatility makes it an excellent option for users working with different materials who require a base adaptable to diverse printing conditions.

A notable advantage is that most materials can be printed without the need for release agents or additional adhesives, simplifying workflow and avoiding complications during post-printing.

For polycarbonate, although the satin sheet provides superior adhesion compared to smooth or textured surfaces, it is recommended to apply a release layer such as glue to protect the sheet and prevent damage from prolonged contact with this abrasive filament.

PEI powder-coated steel with textured finish: maximum resistance and durability for intensive printing

This sheet represents the most robust option within the range. The powder coating applied directly on the metal surface provides extraordinary resistance to mechanical and thermal wear. In case of impact or accidental contact with the hot nozzle, the metal helps dissipate heat quickly, preventing severe damage.

The textured finish not only improves adhesion on demanding filaments but also hides most surface damage caused by tools, scraping, or scratches. Small scratched bumps remain on the surface without transferring to printed parts, ensuring a consistent professional finish.

For this reason, this type of base is preferred in serial production or print farms, where durability and consistent performance are priorities. Additionally, its compatibility with a wide range of materials allows use in projects requiring high technical demands and repeatability.

PA Nylon: Sheet optimized for polyamide filaments

This sheet is specially designed to print materials based on polyamide, a filament with high demands in terms of adhesion and precision. PA filaments often present adhesion challenges on conventional surfaces, as their interaction with satin or textured sheets is usually insufficient, causing problems such as warping or premature part detachment.

The surface finish of this PA Nylon sheet has been developed to maximize adhesion without the need to use glue sticks or other agents, reducing preparation time and improving post-print cleaning. This feature allows printing complex parts with carbon fibers and other PA variants, maintaining strong and uniform adhesion throughout the process.

Important: The surface of this sheet should only be cleaned with pure water. Avoid using chemicals such as isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or acetone, as these deteriorate the special coating and reduce the sheet’s lifespan. To remove greasy residues or fingerprints, it is recommended to use water with a drop of dishwashing detergent, ensuring easy and effective maintenance.
