The MetroX 3D scanner from Revopoint stands out in the 3D scanning industry for its combination of advanced capabilities and accessible design. Built to deliver metrology-grade precision, it combines blue light and structured light technologies in a hybrid system that allows users to capture high-detail scans with an accuracy of up to 0.03 mm and a repeatability of up to 0.01 mm.

Its compact form and intuitive usability enable both handheld and turntable scanning, making it a versatile choice for small to medium object scanning. It excels in fields such as reverse engineering, quality control, additive manufacturing, and rapid prototyping, providing a professional-grade tool for a range of industrial and creative applications.

The MetroX’s primary distinction lies in its innovative multi-mode scanning capabilities. It combines five unique scanning modes, each designed to handle specific surface types and detail levels. These include 14 blue laser cross lines, which are effective for capturing dark or shiny surfaces, and 7 parallel blue laser lines, ideal for edges and intricate surface details. Additionally, the scanner utilizes a 62-line blue full-field structured light option that quickly generates detailed point clouds without the need for markers. The MetroX is also equipped with an automated turntable scan mode and a 2 MP HD RGB camera for color scans (only in turntable mode).

Performance-wise, the MetroX is built to handle fast, high-volume data capture, achieving up to 800,000 points per second in multi-line laser mode and an impressive 7 million points per second in full-field structured light mode. It has a working distance of 200-400 mm and offers a flexible single capture area ranging from 70x160 mm at a closer distance to 215x300 mm at its maximum. The angular field of view is 43x33º, allowing it to capture fine detail even at different scan angles. Its minimum scan volume is 10x10x10 mm, making it suitable for small intricate objects, while its maximum volume reaches 1x1x1 m, enabling scanning of larger items as well.

The accuracy and precision of the MetroX scanner allows for capturing the smallest details without noise

With this unique combination of scanning modes, the MetroX excels in capturing challenging surfaces, such as black or metal objects, without the need for scanning sprays. However, for transparent, black, highly reflective, or specular surfaces, the use of a scanning spray is advisable in multi-line laser mode and highly recommended for full-field structured light mode. Its three tracking modes—Feature, Marker, and Global Marker—cater to different object characteristics, with Global Marker offering enhanced volumetric accuracy, especially useful for featureless or larger objects.

The MetroX scanner’s user-friendly features are designed for efficiency and ease of use, including USB connectivity and a four-button control system for straightforward operation. The scanner’s dedicated software, Revo Scan, allows for complete control of the scanning process, from point cloud generation to meshing and editing.

Users can export scan data in formats like PLY, OBJ, STL, ASC, 3MF, GLTF, and FBX for seamless integration with CAD software such as Quicksurface, Geomagic Wrap, or Geomagic Control, as well as 3D printing applications. This robust system supports streamlined scan-to-CAD workflows and easy collaboration with quality inspection processes, enhancing productivity and ensuring reliable, high-quality results.

MetroX Advanced

It is possible to acquire The MetroX scanner in the Advanced package, equipped with the Marker Block Kit (the scanner itself remains the same as in the standard package). This accessory significantly enhances scanning efficiency by minimizing the marker requirements for laser scans, especially when dealing with featureless objects in Full-field mode. The reusable markers in the kit allow flexibility in setup, as they can be freely combined and strategically placed to optimize scanning.

The Marker Block Kit comes with a variety of marker shapes: 10 dome markers, 4 pyramid markers, 10 ball markers, and 4 bar markers, all magnetic for secure attachment. Another element of the Marker Block Kit are 500 marker points for precise detailing. This versatility not only speeds up the scanning process but also reduces setup complexities, making the MetroX Advanced Edition ideal for professionals seeking high-quality, efficient scanning solutions.
