In the dental sector, 3D resin printing technology is increasingly present in the realization of tools, prototypes, molds or even final pieces such as splints. On this occasion, UniZ has two resins for its SLASH 3D printers, developed specifically for the dental sector:
The LED-LCD technology used by UniZ joins the other two technologies of 3D resin priniters already known, SLA and DLP. Its operation is similar to DLP, solidifying each layer in a single beam of light, but in the case of 3D LED-LCD printers, a set of LEDs with a wavelength of 405 nm illuminates an LCD screen that lets the beam pass through of light with the shape of the layer that is being manufactured.
Teh zOrtho Gray resin is designed specifically for the main applications of the dentistry and orthodontics sector. This resin meets all the mechanical properties that this type of pieces needs: high tensile strength, high percentage of elongation before breaking, resistance to bending and resistance to impact. To the set of all these properties it is necessary to add the matt gray finish that this resin presents, which makes the ZOrtho Gray an ideal material for the manufacture of dental prototypes with a great dimensional precision. A very interesting application is the manufacture of jaws, previously scanned to patients, to easily verify the state of the denture and perform tests on them.

UniZ has developed this resin for its LED-LCD 3D printers and aimed at dental applications such as final dental models, orthodontic molds or plastic prostheses. The zDental Model Sand resin offers a balance between rigidity and tensile strength, high geometrical precision and a quality surface finish. Its surface finish is smooth, matt and with a color similar to plaster, which facilitates the clear visualization of the model during production. Thanks to all this and its low cost, the zDental Model Sand is one of the preferred dental resins of the producers of high precision dental models.

The zSG Amber resin is specially developed for the 3D printing of precise surgical guides with the Uniz LED-LCD 3D printers. This resin has the highest tensile strength of all dental resins, a high softening point, a low elongation percentage and a translucent yellow finish. This set of advantages is complemented by its biocompatibility, allowing to perform, by autoclave, aid elements for surgeries in a very cost-effective manner. In particular, the dental sector uses zSG Amber resin to manufacture dental guides designed in a personalized way for each client.
The bottle of this UV resin has a volume of 500 ml and a system of operation by suction. This system, combined with the pump of the SLASH 3D resin printer, allows to discharge and load the resin in the bottle, which is very useful when storing the resin. It is recommended to store the resin in the bottle if a time of non-operation of more than three days is estimated, for that simply press the button to load the bottle in the rolling software until the tank is without resin, place the stopper in the aeration hole and remove the bottle. To complete the cycle, it is necessary to clean the circuit with the cleaning bottle with isopropyl alcohol inside.

Once an impression is finished, the piece should be removed from the base with the metal spatula that is included with the printer. Then the piece is immersed in IPA for 5-15 minutes to remove the uncured resin from the outer walls of the piece. After that time, pressurized air must be applied on the piece until it is completely dry. To achieve the maximum properties that the zABS resin can provide, it is necessary to cure the resin for 10 minutes in a curing center (Form Cure) having a wavelength of 405 nm.
Before removing parts from the manufacturing base, the user must be equipped with a series of safety measures. It is recommended the use of gloves to prevent the resin and alcohol from coming into contact with the skin, it is also crucial to use safety glasses for the drops that may originate during the washing of the pieces.
