Polypropylene pellets to manufacture filaments for 3D printing with an extruder.

PP (Polypropylene) is a thermoplastic polymer whose properties are similar to those of a polyethylene but with certain advantages: lower specific weight and one of the lowest of all materials used in 3D printing, high softening temperature and high tear strength accompanied with high overall mechanical properties.

Thus, PP offers a certain flexibility, excellent flexural strength and chemical resistance and low density. It is ideal for a wide range of industrial applications and for weight reduction in parts and components.

In 3D printing, this material tends to be very difficult to print and is usually recommended for industrial 3D printers and experienced users. This is because it tends to have a high warping effect.

PP pellets are small cylinders of the highest quality material and do not incorporate recycled or reclaimed material. Thanks to these qualities, PP pellets are perfect for 3D printing, achieving high print quality. There are several methods for using pellets in 3D printing:

  • PP pellets can be used in the manufacture of filament for FDM 3D printers using Filastruder or any other filament extruder.
  • It is possible to use a pellet extruder for direct 3D printing.

PP pellets have been developed to offer high quality and reduce warping issues by improving the adhesion of the material to the printing surface.

With the combination of PP Pellets and a good filament extruder such as Filastruder, it is possible to obtain 3D printing filament with qualities similar to those of commercial PP filament.

When using PP Pellets to make filament with a filament extruder such as Filastruder or using a pellet extruder for direct 3D printing, it should be noted that the extrusion temperature must be regulated in relation to the extrusion speed used. For optimal results, it is recommended to read the product's usage tips.

Lightweight Lightweight
Chemical resistance Chemical resistance

When using PP pellets to manufacture filament or as a material for direct 3D printing with a pellet extruder, it must be taken into account that it is a material that is quite difficult to print, due to the high warping effect it tends to generate.

PP pellets are specially additivated in order to improve their adhesion to the printing surface and thus reduce the warping effect.

It should be taken into account that this material requires a heatable printing base for a correct 3D printing.
