The Vision Encoder is a calibration sheet for the Bambu Lab H2D that allows improving the precision adjustment of movements to values below 50 μm. Moreover, this calibration is independent of distance, ensuring consistency regardless of the model's size, and its impact is even more pronounced for large-scale prints.

1.- Demonstration Video

Even the most precise 3D printers are not free from mechanical deviations, but the Bambu Lab Vision Encoder ensures that these do not affect the quality of your prints. Thanks to a matrix of 10⁴ markers and an optical system with a 5 μm resolution, this calibration solution for the XY axes achieves movement precision within 50 μm, finer than a human hair.

This system not only compensates for mechanical irregularities but also adapts with use, automatically correcting issues such as belt slack or component wear, ensuring that the Bambu Lab H2D maintains stable performance over time. Furthermore, the entire process takes no more than 5 minutes.

  1. The operating characteristics of the machine may change over time due to usage, environmental factors, and operational patterns. These changes may be caused by, among other factors:
    • Variations in ambient temperature
    • Microstructural deformations caused by vibrations or movements
    • Stress relaxation in the chassis materials
As a result, calibration accuracy tends to gradually decrease. The rate of degradation depends directly on the severity of the environment and the intensity of use. For applications requiring high precision, it is recommended to perform calibrations every two weeks.
  2. The Bambu Lab Vision Encoder is designed exclusively for motion accuracy calibration. It must not be used as a print surface. After completing the calibration, it should be removed and stored properly.
  3. Before starting the calibration process with the Bambu Lab Vision Encoder, ensure the following:
    • Remove the transparent plastic protective film from the surface of the Vision Encoder.
    • Check that the printhead camera is functioning correctly and that there are no HMS errors (e.g. dirty lenses).
    • Thoroughly clean any debris from the heated bed.
    • Ensure that the Vision Encoder surface is clean and that the grid pattern is fully visible.
    • Make sure that the heated bed is at room temperature before placing the Vision Encoder. It should not be placed on a hot bed, as thermal expansion may cause calibration errors.
