Polycarbonate (PC) is a transparent, amorphous plastic with good mechanical properties. It is a very rigid, tough material with good resistance to oils, greases and solvents; it is also a good electrical insulator. Polycarbonate is a material widely used in industry, especially in the electrical industry.

Nowadays it is common to find parts made of PC in homes, industry or architecture thanks to its high resistance to impact, temperature and surface finish.

PC pellets are small cylinders of the highest quality material and do not incorporate recycled or recovered material.

Thanks to these qualities, PC pellets are perfect for 3D printing, achieving high print quality. There are several methods for using pellets in 3D printing:

  • PC pellets can be used in the manufacture of filament for FDM 3D printers using Filastruder or any other filament extruder.
  • It is possible to use a pellet extruder for direct 3D printing.

With the combination of PC Pellets and a good filament extruder such as Filastruder, it is possible to obtain 3D printing filament with qualities similar to those of commercial PC filament.

When using PC Pellets to make filament with a filament extruder such as Filastruder or using a pellet extruder for direct 3D printing, it should be noted that the extrusion temperature must be regulated in relation to the extrusion speed used. For optimal results, it is recommended to read the product's usage tips.

In excessively humid environments, PC pellets can absorb moisture and present problems when 3D printing. These problems can lead to poor quality prints. It is therefore advisable to keep the material in an airtight bag together with a desiccant bag.
