The AMS Lite is an automatic material system designed for the A1 and A1 Mini 3D printers by Bambu Lab. It expands creative possibilities by enabling multicolour printing and seamless use of support materials, simplifying the removal process and ensuring high-quality results. With the AMS Lite, users can easily enhance their 3D printing projects, adding vibrant colours and creating precise, detailed parts with minimal effort.

It must be kept in mind that the A1 Mini printer can only work with one AMS Lite module and 4 spools at a time. Furthermore, the AMS Lite module cannot be used with the X1 or P1 series printers (the automatic material system for those printers is the AMS module).

New features

This advanced material system boasts several innovative features. Its multicolour and multi-material capability includes automatic filament backup, allowing a new spool to load seamlessly when the current spool runs out, eliminating interruptions and reducing filament waste.

The spring-loaded rotating spool holder enhances compatibility with various spools, particularly paper ones, by securely holding them in place. Maintenance is simplified by its exposed design and translucent housing, allowing users to observe and troubleshoot the system with ease.

Additionally, Bambu Lab's RFID filament synchronisation ensures that compatible filaments are automatically configured with optimal settings, while non-Bambu Lab filaments can be manually adjusted in Bambu Studio or the printer interface.

Compatible materials

The AMS Lite automatic material system by Bambu Lab is compatible with a wide range of 1.75 mm filaments, including PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, PET, PA, PC, dry PVA, dry BVOH, PP, POM, HIPS, and Bambu-specific materials like PLA-CF and PAHT-CF. However, it is not recommended to use filaments such as Bambu PLA Glow, Bambu PETG-CF, or glow-in-the-dark PLA filaments from other brands. The system is incompatible with flexible filaments like TPE and TPU, as well as wet PVA or BVOH, and filaments reinforced with carbon or glass fibers, such as Bambu PET-CF, PA6-CF, or TPU 95A. For optimal performance, the spools should have a width between 40–68 mm and an inner diameter of 53–58 mm.
