PA-6 R pellets made from recycled fishing nets.

PA-6 R material is a nylon material created from recycled fishing nets from the French coast, within the framework of the RECYPECH programme of the Coopération Maritime, which aims to recycle waste from the fishing industry.

This initiative was launched by the Guingamp-Paimpol Agglomération (Brittany, France) to establish a circular economy with waste from the port. The collected fishing nets are taken to ESATCO where they are transformed into plastic pellets by Fil & Fab in Brest and finally turned into filament for 3D printers by Nanovia.

  • PA-6 R pellets can be used in the manufacture of filament for FDM 3D printers using Filastruder or any other filament extruder.
  • It is possible to use a pellet extruder for 3D printing directly.

With the combination of PA-6 R pellets and a good filament extruder such as Filastruder, it is possible to obtain 3D printing filament with qualities similar to those of a commercial filament.

When using PA-6 R Pellets to make filament with a filament extruder such as Filastruder or using a pellet extruder for direct 3D printing, it should be noted that the extrusion temperature must be regulated in relation to the extrusion speed used. For optimal results, it is recommended to read the product's usage tips.

Polyamide 6 (PA6) is the most common extruded polyamide. It is known in industry for its good damping properties and impact resistance, as well as good toughness at low temperatures. It is ideal for bearings and gears, for example.

PA6 has a high sensitivity to moisture and must be kept in dry conditions at all times.

It must be taken into account that PA6 is a material with a certain difficulty in printing, due to the warping effect it can generate.

PA6 is a very hygroscopic material, so it is advisable to store PA6 pellets in an airtight bag or use desiccant bags to prevent them from absorbing moisture. If the pellets have moisture in them, the filament that is manufactured may contain small imperfections that can negatively affect the final result.
