Igus is a manufacturer of innovative plastics that was born in 1964 in a garage in Cologne (Germany). In their first two decades they made heavy technical pieces of plastic for all types of industrial sectors. In 1983, Igus specializes in making its own products such as cable chain systems and sliding bearings. Its constant growth and its eagerness to evolve led Igus to create filaments for 3D printing with the most outstanding property of its products: great resistance to friction. Tribo (iglidur I180), Tribo Plus (iglidur J260) and Iglidur A350-PF are filaments for 3D printing with a friction resistance far superior to most available materials.

Friction-resistant materials

The Tribo filament (iglidur I180) is up to 50 times more resistant to friction than most conventional filaments. This special filament is developed to replace ABS when printing bearings and gears, as it is designed to reduce friction, increase wear resistance of parts and prevent lubrication.

The Tribo Plus (iglidur J260) is a self-lubricating filament that, in addition to the properties of the Tribo, has great resistance to liquid media and great wear resistance, especially when used with plastic or carbon fiber shafts. In addition, it has an excellent performance against wear in damp or wet environments thanks to its reduced moisture absorption.

The Iglidur A350-PF filament is high-friction-resistant filament that is also resistant to temperatures of up to 180°C. Iglidur A350-PF also holds UL94-V0 flame retardant certification and supports steam sterilization for microbial elimination in autoclaves. Primarily catering to the food and packaging industry, it adheres to EU 10/2011 and FDA food contact regulations, making it suitable for diverse applications from prototypes to mass production.
