zWax filament for 3D printing molds for lost mold casting of metal alloys. zWax filament for 3D printing molds for lost mold casting of metal alloys.
The filaments for 3D printers of the LAY family are formed, among others, by Poro-Lay, which are characterized by being porous, MoldLay, GrowLay, etc. The Porolay are composed of a functional polymer (TPE) and another soluble component (PVA). Once the Poro-Lay material is immersed in water, the PVA component dissolves and the rubber polymer remains a micro-porous object. The MoldLay is a filament for 3D printing with properties similar to the wax that is used for metal casting.
The manufacture of lost wax is a millenary technique that has evolved from having to make the original piece in wax in an artisanal way, to make light wax molds and to be able to make short series, until finally making pieces by 3D printing. Thanks to specialized filaments for lost wax, which present a high precision and excellent surface finish, this type of manufacturing has undergone a revolution.
Within this category is the MoldLay, a filament that allows the printing of molds both for casting lost wax and for permanent molding domestically. On the other hand, there is also the PolyCast, a material easy to print as the PLA, which leaves no residue and decomposes completely from 600 ºC offering a smooth and bright surface finish ideal for the final metal parts are of high quality.
