The power supply for Bambu Lab AMS 2 Pro is a power adapter specifically designed to supply energy to the AMS 2 Pro automatic filament management system. This component ensures stable operation of the module, providing proper power to the motors, sensors, and electronic systems involved in filament handling and automatic switching.

The AMS 2 Pro is a system that allows the management of multiple filament spools and performs automatic material changes during the printing process. For this mechanism to operate correctly, it requires a constant and secure electrical supply. The power supply provides the appropriate voltage and current to maintain reliable system operation, preventing fluctuations that could affect filament loading, unloading, or selection.

This adapter uses a switching power supply design, allowing it to convert mains current into a stable output with high energy efficiency. Switching power supplies are widely used in electronic devices due to their ability to provide a constant power supply, reduce heat generation, and improve efficiency compared to linear power systems.

The adapter is designed to fully integrate with the Bambu Lab product ecosystem, ensuring full compatibility with the AMS 2 Pro system. Its compact format facilitates installation next to the printer or within the workspace, maintaining an organized environment and avoiding interference with other printing system components.

In addition to powering the filament management mechanism, this power supply helps ensure stable system operation during tasks such as filament detection, automatic winding, and material changes in multimaterial prints. A reliable power supply is essential for the system to properly coordinate the movements and sensors involved in these operations.

When the drying function is required in more than one AMS 2 Pro unit simultaneously, it is necessary to use the official Bambu Lab power adapter to supply power to the additional units. This adapter ensures that each AMS system has the required power to perform the drying process correctly.

In configurations where printers from the X1, P1, or A1 series are used together with the AMS 2 Pro, activating the drying function requires each AMS 2 Pro unit to be connected to its own official Bambu Lab power adapter. This ensures a stable power supply throughout the process.

Use with H2 and P2S series printers

For printers belonging to the H2 and P2S series, power management varies depending on the number of connected AMS 2 Pro units. When a single unit is used, it can be powered directly from the printer itself, allowing the drying function to be used without the need to add an additional power adapter.

However, when multiple AMS 2 Pro units are connected within the same system, the situation changes. If the drying function is activated on several units simultaneously, each of them must have its own power adapter to ensure proper operation. Even if the drying function is only being used on one unit, the system may automatically reduce the available power, which could affect drying performance. For this reason, it is recommended to use a dedicated adapter to ensure optimal results.

Use with X1 and P1 series printers

In printers from the X1 and P1 series, the AMS 2 Pro drying function necessarily requires the use of an external power adapter. This provides sufficient energy for the system to maintain the thermal conditions required during the filament drying process.

When multiple AMS 2 Pro units are connected together, each one must also have its own power adapter if the drying function is to be activated on more than one unit at the same time.

On the other hand, if the system is used only for automatic filament management and the drying function is not activated, it is possible to operate the AMS 2 Pro without connecting the additional power adapter.

General information

Manufacturer BambuLab
  1. Use the official adapter when activating filament drying, as the AMS 2 Pro system requires additional power to maintain stable temperature during long drying cycles.
  2. Install one adapter per AMS 2 Pro unit when multiple systems are used in drying mode, preventing power drops or thermal limitations.
  3. Connect the adapter only to outlets compatible with the specified input range, ensuring stable DC power delivery.
  4. Do not disconnect the adapter during an active drying process, as interruptions may reduce filament dehumidification efficiency.
  5. Use the system without the adapter only when the drying function is not enabled, since the AMS can operate in automatic feed mode powered by the printer in that case.
  6. Avoid using non-certified power supplies, as they may not deliver the required power to reach a stable 65 °C drying temperature.
  7. Place the adapter in a well-ventilated area during operation, as it may generate heat during extended drying cycles.
  8. Periodically check wiring and the DC connector to prevent looseness or poor contact that could interrupt the process.
  9. Use the adapter as a stable power support in multicolor or multimaterial printing environments, reducing reliance on the printer’s internal power supply.
